Some great racing in store once again this weekend as the National Hunt season is now in full swing. Three days at Cheltenham, a great card at Wexford and Navan kick there season off with a two day meeting. It’s a cracker for all National Hunt fans!
Friday Betting Tips
12:20 Wexford: Half Off Six Pence. For the Wexford trainer and shred operator, David Harry Kelly, this horse has the highest RPR in the field at 106 and is carrying a very generous weight of 11-5. He’s been a consistent sort in maiden hurdles and with Sean Flanagan on board he’s good value each way at 6-1. Kelly has a very good record around Wexford and I’ve no doubt he’s been targeting a race like this for him for a while.
1:25 Wexford: Whatcouldhavebeen. This 5 year old trained mare by Peter Fahey has very good from being placed 2nd behind Ashroe Diamond in a Grade 1 last April in the Mares Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse. She has form on soft ground and distance and I would be willing to take on the favorite with her. At 11-4 I think she’s the value in the race and may shorten before the off.
2:55 Cheltenham: Latenightpass. A very consistent sort for the Dan Skeleton team, this horse is a hunter chase specialist. An unorthodox route to this division having never run over hurdles or fences before and being put straight into Hunter Chases. Now 10, he was last seen finsihing 3rd after a year off in the Foxhunters chase at Aintree having won the race the year previous. It’s his first run over the banks, and him carrying over a stone and a half less than the festivals Ross country 1-2, Delta Work and Galvin I feel he’s got a very good chance of turing the more profile Elliott pair who’s main target won’t be till March.
Saturday Betting Tips
2:40 Navan: Saint Roi. A very consistent sort last season over fences and a grade 1 winner over fences. The son of Coastal Path, he was disappointing last time out at Punchestown but with a bit of soft ground, he’s a horse who’s very good fresh could run the main protagonists in the market down.
